Almost ready to launch my new embroideey program. Almost ready to launch my new embroideey program. Details out in my newsletter tomorrow. Can barely wait!

All Ways + Always hearts were the first Valentine's image I painted when I fell in love with @dougsymington 11 years ago.

It is my first embroidery kit being released and I have plans for many more different images coming too.

Embroidery was the first hand-craft skill I learned as a child and definitely started me on the track of becoming a #maker . I had not embroidered in decades untill my niece, @angcarson asked if she could use one of my images to create a huge project.

Thanks for the inspiration Angie!

I would love to hear what images everyone would like to see as a kit. Trees and farm landscapes are up next but I will be creating at least 30 images....

I recieved a note from Dr Bogoch recently. He had I recieved a note from Dr Bogoch recently. He had moved my art piece from his back wall because he never saw it and liked having it beside him at his desk.

After our email exchange he realized that television viewers could not see my art in the shot, so isn't it kind that he has turned his camera to capture my work on screen for Canadians to see when he updates us on #COVID19.

Now I am working out some final details for my new embroidery kits. Launching asap.

First dibs go to my newsletter subscribers in the next couple of days (Link in bio). Be sure to sign up for my newsletter to be able to get them first. I am creating an advanced and beginner kit.

I am also planning to create at least 25-40 different images of kits in total and may even set up an embroidery club. Stay tuned!

I am going to make a quilt with all of the images I embroider.

When asked about why I did not paint the petals, my feeling is that I want the viewers to fill in the details...

A doodle by my brother Dan (maybe a self potrait) A doodle by my brother Dan (maybe a self potrait) and a few images of him.

25 years ago my brother ended his life. I have struggled with suicide and suicidal ideation too. Suicide sucks and the people left behind in its wake endure so much pain and guilt that it is so hard to recover from. I miss him every day.

There is so much to say about #mentalhealth

Fight like hell to save your life. Sometimes the answers are not easy to find or hear or adapt to. Keep fighting to find help and if you don't know where to turn, reach out. I am not a councillor but i have many tools in my tool box for mental health.

Also, Ponoka Hospital is an amazing facility and if i had only gone there during my 20's i would likely have removed a few decades of self imposed pain.

This past summer, I applied for a public art grant This past summer, I applied for a public art grant at @cityofcalgary with The Alexandra Centre @alexandracentresociety in #Inglewood.

We recieved the grant go ahead and then through the research process, added two talented artists to the project. I am thrilled to be working with @boba.shett (Smith Wright) + @edwinmcgowan7 (Edwin McGowan) to bring this project to completion.

Over the next few weeks we will be working together to produce 4 panels (4foot x 8foot) with content specific to Calgary and the convergence of the Elbow + Bow Rivers. Each panel colour is chosen for its cultural importance.

The blue panel was created by Smith and shows tipis set infront of the magestic Rockies.

The green panel depicts tent town which popped up at the turn of the century in the place where Inglewood exsists now. It includes the newly installed rail line, I will be painting this panel.

Edwin pays homage to his Metis ancestors with a red river cart shown leaving Fort Calgary.

I will be painting the final yellow panel which shows McVittie cabin considered the first home built in Calgary and was situated at the location of the Alexandra Centre.

The red ribbon floating through the tops of the panels, ties the images together and was inspired by the Bow + Elbow Rivers, the blood of life and the chinook arch. We chose red for its importance as a culural colour for all the artists involved in the project.

A big shout out to Troy Patenaude @fortcalgary for helping to connect the team.

These panels will be installed at the front of the Alexandra Centre on 9 Ave SE in approximately a month. Im sure I will add loads of content as we move past the planning phase and begin production. I can't wait to see this come together!!!

EMBROIDERY KITS!

Embroidery was the first handcraft skill I learned as a kid. I loved it. Once I graduated to sewing, I left it behind.

Now, I am pretty thrilled to be launching a full embroidery kit program based on my art images and from content spanning the Canadian landscape.

This one, All Ways + Always was a first "love" inspired watercolour from 11 years ago when I first met my love, @dougsymington and will be available for purchase for your craft enthusiast for Valentines Day!

I will have pre launch pricing available for my newsletter subscribers so be sure to sign up to get first dibs! Link in my bio.
