Heritage Quilt

January 2024, we have launched our next community crochet project.

On January 20, 2024, 11am – 4pm at the Innisfail Historical Village the community launched the Community Heritage Quilt Crochet BOMB Project led by Karen Scarlett in co-operation with the Innisfail and District Historical Village and we hope you will join in on the fun.

The big plan is to ask the community to create granny squares of all sizes and send them into the Historical Village. Those squares will be tied together on the corners to create crocheted pieces meant to look like HERITAGE QUILTS. Once the squares are tied together, we will need help adding a boarder stitch to the tied pieces to complete them.

Granny squares have been arriving regularly at the Village and we need a bit of help from the community to finish them off.

Join us June 11, 11am – 3pm as we get together to stitch and finish off the “quilts” with edging. If you would like to help with the edges but can only do that from home, please reach out to the Historical Village (403) 227-2906 or the Karen Scarlett to make arrangements.

It looks like we will have a beautiful selection of “quilts” to adorn the fences at the Innisfail Historical Village and I hope everyone will come out to our install party on June 23 as we come together as a community. Music, stories, food and celebrating will all be part of the day and June seems to be the perfect month to come together and celebrate our history and our future.

We are looking forward to seeing the final result of this “Heritage Quilt Crochet BOMB Project” on chain link fences in Innisfail, Alberta at the Innisfail Historical Village.

***UPDATE*** We did it! The Heritage Quilt BOMB has been installed! Be sure to drive by the Innisfail Historical Village to check it out!
