This course is an introduction to watercolour painting. Learners will be guided in a supportive environment to develop watercolour skills and techniques. This is not a class where everyone is expected to copy an example, rather we will focus on exploring and creating their own interpretation in the medium in a guided journey.  Each day a small amount of “Fun Work”  will be assigned, to prepare them for the next day’s class.

Included: product knowledge, theory,  colour mixing, watercolour washes, tools and tricks.

Level: Intermediate – kids

Time Frame: 5 week class.  Wednesday afternoon from 4 -5:30pm (MST)

Date: April 14 – May 12 , 4-5:30pm (MST)

Goal

This course is an introduction to sketching and drawing and includes watercolour painting. We will review the basics and move through a variety of techniques as a student body. Learners will be guided in a supportive environment to develop sketching/drawing and watercolour skills and techniques. This is not a class where everyone is expected to copy an example, rather we will focus on exploring and creating their own interpretation in the medium in a guided journey. 

This class includes a drop in session on Thursday evenings at 7pm MST

Learning Objectives 

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the theory, and demonstrate the skills associated with drawing and watercolour painting as an art medium.
  2. Describe different tools used in drawing watercolour painting.
  3. Describe when to use different tools and why.
  4. Demonstrate how to mix colours to develop a full prism of colours (colour theory).
  5. Name various local artists. 
  6. Demonstrate drawing and watercolour skills through production of various images.
